My daughter came down the step and approached my wife saying “I have a concern with my eye it’s red.” She’s seven and hearing her vocabulary took me aback. We didn’t really know what to do so I said “Lets check Dr. Google.” where she responded “Google is not a real doctor. How do you know it’s correct?”
She really respects authority. Always asking “Who is saying what?”
(Yet, she is watching YouTube shorts on anything a girl princess enjoys watching as the unbridled truth)
As adults, while lessening, we have our “authority” figures that we rely on and we also have short-hands to save us time until we can consult with an authority figure.
So when it comes to the financial markets the question is who is the authority figure?
*The current price activity of a financial instrument?
*The economic data released?
*The fundamentals of a company based on accounting principles?
*Your buddy who you believe has an amazing track record?
*The established gurus and titans of finance interviewed on CNBC?
*Your own observations?
From what I learned from my daughter, you first have to realize you have a problem that you cannot solve then … ask your mom and dad, .ie people who you trust … and then seek professional assistance.
Otherwise, just keep doing what works.
Today, the market is bouncing back from just a 2 day sell off but I think the news is in precious metals and energy.
You have to own some even if it’s for insurance purposes.
